Alumnae Reunion 2010 Highlights
On Saturday, February 20th the 2010 Distinguished Alumnae Pamela Deitrich ’70 and Shirley Luber ’47 were honored. In addition to the ceremony, over eighty alumnae and friends participated in many wonderful workshops all focusing on the theme of recycling and reuse of materials. Workshops this year included:

• Mosaic Madness: taught by Marcy Rosner who has been creating functional mosaics for more than ten years. Made from recycled shards, her mosaic furniture has been exhibited in many juried art shows and is carried by galleries and shops in New Jersey and Philadelphia.
• Recycled Cast Paper Tiles: taught by Janell Wysock who graduated from Moore in Textile Design in 2004 and continues to create wearable textiles.  She weaves, felts, knits and crochets yarns and found materials. Wysock teaches senior citizens and children and hosts workshops in her 915 Spring Garden Street studio.
• The Recycled Fused Plastic Bag: taught by Jenna Allen graduated from Moore in Textile Design in 2009. She has a patent pending on a fabric she created by weaving recycled plastic bags with natural fibers. From this unique fabric, she has created a line of accessories.
• reTRENDing Your Wardrobe: taught by Kathy Maggio who holds a BFA from Moore and an MS from the Bank Street College of Education.  She is the author of the newly published book Altered Clothing -Transformations with a Needle and Thread ( Quarry Books ) and will be pleased to sign a copy which will be available at the session.  She currently teaches construction, draping and drafting at Parsons New School of Design.
• Sock Creatures: taght by Rachel Sherman received her BFA from Moore in Textile Design in 1999. In addition to freelancing, she designs and produces clothing under the label MALAGUETA.

Alumnae Costume Balls from the 20s and 30s

Throughout the twenties and thirties, the Alumnae Association was responsible for organizing elaborate costume balls for the students, faculty and alumnae. For each themed ball, a room of the school was transformed with festive, handmade decorations and attendees labored over the design of intricate and inventive costumes. This selection of photographs from Moore’s Archives illustrates the hard work and creativity of the Alumnae Association and those involved.
