Meet Career Center Staff

Belena S. Chapp

Belena S. Chapp, Director of the Locks Career Center, has more than 25 years of experience in education and non-profit arts management, program development, public relations and marketing. Previously Chapp served as the Director of Museums at the University of Delaware and as Acting Executive Director and Director of Development of the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts. Chapp’s role at the University of Delaware included curatorial work and public outreach, teaching and career counseling and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students through curatorial apprenticeships and museum internships.

Chapp holds a BS in Art Marketing and Craft Production from Appalachian State University and an MA in Creative Arts (Surface Design/Textile Arts) from Purdue University. She has been a member of ArtTable, a national organization for professional women in leadership positions in the visual arts and the American Association of Museums. She has served on the Advisory Council of Women's Opportunity Link of Delaware. She is a regular program evaluator for the Delaware Humanities Forum and participated as grants reviewer for the National Endowment for the Arts in 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2008.

Veronica Scarpellino

Veronica Scarpellino, Assistant Director, has helped artists succeed in their endeavors through her business as an art coach. Originally from Asbury Park, NJ, Scarpellino graduated magna cum laude from Monmouth University’s Department of Art and Design, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in sculpture. Scarpellino’s found object sculptures have been exhibited in New York City, Boulder, Atlanta and Philadelphia. She has curated large and small scale exhibits in Philadelphia. Before relocating to Philadelphia and entering the art coaching field, Scarpellino lived in Boulder, CO, where she built architectural scale models and worked with the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art.
