INTERIOR DESIGN STUDIES CERTIFICATE

This program is intended for individuals seeking new career opportunities or fulfilling a personal interest in interior design.  Participants are prepared for a range of business possibilities that include working in a retail setting and starting their own practice.  Courses provide serious, practical training in a supportive studio environment.  Emphasis is on problem solving, space planning, and communication/presentation skills needed to serve clients.

The curriculum develops professional competencies for creating and implementing all phases of an interior design project, as well as the discipline and organizational skills that are the foundation of a successful business.  Design studios focus on the complex functions of the interior environment, the general principles of interior design, and the proficiencies to transform that information into a design solution.  An intensive hands-on approach throughout the program leads to the development of a professional portfolio.

The program offers a range of courses that combine a flexible and dynamic approach to learning while remaining based on the time-honored strengths of Moore's degree programs and the experience of our award-winning faculty, who are committed to sharing their knowledge and bringing real world know-how into the classroom.

The integrated and comprehensive curriculum of eight courses may be – but are not required to be – completed in one year. The development of personal vision and creative problem solving are encouraged alongside the development of technical proficiency.  Students earn two undergraduate-level credits for each course which may be applied to undergraduate degrees or used to meet graduate degree prerequisite requirements.  Graduates are prepared to go forward in a creative and fulfilling career.

All courses in Certificate Programs are open to non-certificate students who may wish to take courses on an individual basis for credit or noncredit
