Moore’s acclaimed Fashion Design Department blends the best art and design training with the practical demands of working in any number of fashion related fields.
The curriculum includes drawing, illustration, pattern making, sewing, creating storyboards, designing original collections, fashion show production, and career preparation in a careful combination of classroom instruction and design projects.
Our faculty of accomplished designers teaches from experience and by example.
They also utilize a wide network of critically acclaimed fashion designers and other industry professionals, as well as many of Moore’s successful fashion alumnae, to provide critiques and valuable internship opportunities. The Department benefits from high visibility in local and national arenas and an impressive record of top honors in numerous design competitions.
Regular interaction with the fashion world of Philadelphia and nearby New York City, as well as exposure to the international scene, enhance students’ understanding of both the creative and business sides of the industry.
Classes visit designers’ studios and showrooms, retailers, and suppliers to learn first hand from experts about competition, fabric buying, display, production, and business practices. Such comprehensive programming has established Moore’s Fashion Design program as one of the most distinguished in the nation.
