The Interior Design Department at Moore teaches students to become imaginative and responsible interior designers. Emphasizing creativity and critical thinking, the curriculum encompasses the information and skills necessary to succeed as an interior design professional.

Courses stress the broad intellectual development required to become a leader in the field, as well as the fundamental skills needed to secure a first job.

In the well-equipped Computer Aided Design (CAD) lab, students learn and practice essential skills. The hardware and software are constantly updated to reflect current usage in interior design offices, including new releases of AutoCAD and other software required for superior professional presentations. A number of computers are also available in the design studios.

Tours, lectures and field studies of Philadelphia’s well-known historic and contemporary interiors reinforce classroom instruction and studio projects.

The College is located near the city’s major design firms and resources, which enrich the students’ educational experience and internship opportunities. The faculty is composed of active, practicing professionals in interior design, architecture, facility management, architectural rendering, lighting design, furniture design, and exhibit design.

Most graduates practice as commercial or residential designers. In addition, our students have entered careers in furniture design, set design, facility management, project management, and product sales.

The program also provides a foundation for continued study in architecture, exhibition design, sculptural installation, cyberspace design, critical writing about design, environmental psychology, marketing for design, and advanced degrees in a design specialty.

Graduates of our CIDA-accredited (Council for Interior Design Accreditation, formerly FIDER) program are eligible to take the NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) professional examination, which is required to be a professional member of interior design organizations and for licensing in some states.
