Theory and practice are balanced with an emphasis on research and the sketch process while specific projects involve a variety of design applications from two-dimensional to environmental to digital. In addition, a required internship enhances the student's professional preparation.
Graduates of the program benefit from this breadth of instruction, emerging as well-rounded and skilled designers.
Digital technology is regularly updated with industry standard hardware and software and is a vital component of Graphic Design and many other departments. Computer classrooms and labs contain MAC G4s installed with the latest versions of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Macromedia Director, Dreamweaver, QuarkXpress, Fireworks, and Flash, as well as Microsoft Word and Power Point.
All computer labs have Internet access, CD-ROMs, zip drives, AGFA flatbed scanners, slide scanners, and color laser printers. The Graphic Design Department also has one logging station and two video editing stations with MAC G4s installed with OS 10.2, Adobe Photoshop, and Final Cut Pro V.
