The Art Education Program ensures that students have a solid base in two- and three-dimensional Fine Arts studio courses, Art History and Liberal Arts.
Our mission is to prepare professional artist-teachers who are knowledgeable about the liberal arts, studio and design arts and the broader field of art education, are able to create, instruct and assess developmentally appropriate art lessons based on Pennsylvania Academic Standards for Arts and Humanities, and confident in their abilities to teach a sequential art program to students with diverse abilities, backgrounds, and learning challenges.
Students prepare for teaching in private and public school art classrooms through art coursework, hands-on teaching experiences in Moore’s own Young Artists Workshop, observation experiences in area schools, and 12 weeks or 60 full days of student teaching.
