Fashion Technology Certificate Program
The Fashion Technology Certificate is ideal for men and women interested in changing careers in order to work in the creative fashion industry or for those wanting to upgrade their technology and technical drawing skills. The program offers desired job skills and a fast track into the fashion field for students interested in working with a design house or designer. Students will benefit from a sought-after curriculum that provides the latest working knowledge of the fashion design technology field.
Faculty in the program are professionals in the fashion industry who bring real-world experience to the classroom. Instruction centers on skills and knowledge of the fashion industry, including marketing, patternmaking, technical design, drawing flats, and creating fashion concepts. While gaining an overview of fashion production, students are introduced to relevant vocabulary and markets, state-of-the art technology, and industry-utilized software. CEOs of notable fashion companies agree that technical fashion drawing skills are in high demand in the fashion industry today and report that they continue to have technology positions for which they cannot find qualified employees and that technical knowledge personnel in fashion are needed.
To earn the certificate, eight required courses must be successfully completed. They are designed to be taken in one year, but may be completed at the student's own pace. Students are highly encouraged to tailor their education with electives to work toward a specific interest or career goal.
