Fine Arts majors at Moore share a Sophomore Fine Arts Core curriculum that consists of drawing, painting, and sculpture studies. Rising juniors choose to concentrate their studies in Fine Arts:2D or Fine Arts:3D. Throughout the Fine Arts major, ample electives allow for interdisciplinary exploration, while departmental and interdepartmental critiques encourage an open exchange of ideas.
Fine Arts:2D is defined by a strong commitment to the historical and contemporary traditions of painting, drawing and printmaking.
Students are encouraged to experience working in all media. The flexible curriculum allows for interdisciplinary involvement and encourages experimentation. It also assures that students emerge with a firm grounding in each discipline.
The faculty provides support throughout each phase of the program, beginning with the foundation of the Sophomore Fine Arts core through the more independent themes of the upper level classes.
The culmination of this personal development is a cohesive body of work presented as the Senior Thesis. Throughout the program, end-of-semester group critiques ensure an exchange of views between all fine arts faculty and upper level students.
