Application details for International Students

Moore College of Art & Design welcomes women from around the world to pursue their education in the visual arts here in Philadelphia. Approximately 75-80 percent of the international students who complete the application process are accepted.

Throughout the College’s history, we have hosted students from Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Poland, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Norway, Russia, Italy, India, Mexico, Kenya, Austria, Latvia, South Africa, Denmark, Greece, the Netherlands, Singapore, Malaysia, Canada, Sweden, Senegal, Liberia, Iran, the United Kingdom, Spain, the United Arab Emerates, the Czech Republic, Colombia, and Egypt.

International students are encouraged to work with EducationUSA advisors in their home countries, if they are applying from abroad. EducationUSA centers actively promote United States higher education around the world by offering accurate, unbiased, comprehensive, objective and timely information about education institutions in the United States and guidance to qualified individuals on how best to access those opportunities. Application Checklist

1. Completed Application with $60 Application fee.

2. All prior college and secondary school transcripts. Transcripts must be in English. For foreign credit evaluation, we suggest contacting World Education Services at 1.800.937.3895. WES can also easily be accessed on their website at www.wes.org.
3. TOEFL Test scores including The Test of Written English (minimum score 527 for the paper-based exam, 197 for the computer-based exam, 71 for the net-based exam). Go to www.toefl.org for more information. Students may opt to submit International English Language Testing System (IELTS) scores in place of TOEFL scores. A band score of 6 must be achieved on the academic module for admissions consideration. Go to www.ielts.org for more information.
4. Portfolio of original artwork. For international applicants we accept portfolios via PDF.

5. Letter of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

• International students are eligible for extensive merit scholarships. The average merit award for international students is about $10,500. The amount of merit scholarship a student receives is based upon her academic record and portfolio.
• International students are not eligible for need-based financial aid from the College or the US government.
• International students who are accepted to the College must provide financial documentation to prove that they will be fully funded throughout their program of study. An I-20 form will not be issued until the Admissions Office has received satisfactory financial documentation.

International Institutional Workstudy Program

All international students are guaranteed up to 10 hours per week of on-camus employment. Students are paid directly in exchange for employment.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Credit

• Moore College of Art & Design may award a maximum of 3.0 studio elective IB credits and a maximum of 9.0 liberal art IB credits.
• Regarding studio credits, the College may award 3.0 credits if a student receives a score of 7 on the Standard Level examination, or 3.0 credits for a score of 4 or better on the Higher Level examination.
• Regarding liberal art credits, the College may award 3.0 credits per applicable exam if a student receives a score of 4 or better on a Higher Level examination.
• No Standard Level examinations will be considered for liberal arts transfer.
