Recharge, Refocus, Reconnect!
Moore’s Teachers Summer Institute 2010 is designed to enhance the culture of teaching and to empower learning in and through visual art. A professionally directed program of studio-based workshops offers educators the opportunity to recharge batteries, deepen personal direction, expand studio skills, and discover new applications in educational practice.
Program opportunities:
• Make art in an exciting studio setting
• Learn new skills and techniques
• Network with colleagues
• Explore issues in contemporary art
• Earn 3 graduate-level credits and/or Act 48 hours
Studios and panel discussions focus on:
• Expanding individual practice
• Strengthening the teaching experience
• Expanding resources for curricular design
2D & 3D Studios: Guided by a facilitator, participants work independently and focus on personal direction, experimentation, and individual point of view. In the morning studio, medium options are printmaking, drawing, painting, and mixed media. Ceramics and sculpture are afternoon options.
Contemporary Art Lecture & Lunch: Guest speakers address important topics in contemporary art and how to relate them to interests of young people. Lectures are followed by breakout sessions providing participants with the opportunity to share ideas.
Optional Evening Sessions: Extended Studio Time, Life Drawing Workshop, and Digital Photography Workshop
The Galleries at Moore: Participants attend a special Galleries event in conjunction with the exhibition, Secret Games: Wendy Ewald, Collaborative Works with Children, and explore new possibilities for building literacy curriculum through photography.
