Teachers Summer Institute

Designed especially for elementary and secondary schoolteachers, the Teachers Summer Institute at Moore is a professional development program that offers teachers college credit. The Institute will enrich and nourish your teaching and practice of the performing and visual arts through an intensive curriculum and unique residential experience.

The Institute combines

Professional Development Program for Educators

Moore's Teachers Summer Institute 2009 is designed to enhance the culture of teaching and to empower learning in and through visual art. A professionally directed program of studio-based workshops offers educators the opportunity to recharge batteries, deepen personal direction, hone skills, expand concept development, as well as to discover new media and applications to educational practice.

MORNING SESSION

FINE ARTS STUDIO
In this studio, the instructor will lead an exploration into sources and approaches designed to advance personal direction and deepen individual point of view. There are no restrictions on medium, form or imagery.

MID-DAY SESSION
12:15-1:45
PERSPECTIVES ON CONTEMPORARY ART
Luncheon and panel presentation followed by discussion of
issues in contemporary art and how to relate them to the
interests of young people.

AFTERNOON SESSION
2:00-5:15
COMMUNICATION ARTS STUDIO
In this studio, the instructor will focus on using new media as a means of enhancing personal narrative and as a tool for creating new communication possibilities in the classroom.

EVENING ACTIVITIES

ART & CULTURE OPTIONS
The following choices are available Monday through
Thursday evening:
* Extended studio time
* Life drawing session
* Tour of Philadelphia's Galleries
* Visit to Philadelphia Museum of Art

Tuition: $525
$500 early registration
$525 after May 15, 2009
