Requirements for Admission: MA in Art Education with an Emphasis in Special Populations

Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required.

  • Current art education teacher certification; or
  • Current enrollment in the Post-Baccalaureate Art Certification Program at Moore College
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3.0 Minimum GPA
  • English proficiency
  • On-site interview
  • Portfolio*
  • Statement of Intent
  • 3 Letters of Recommendation
  • Resume

*Portfolio Requirements:

  • A digital portfolio of recent artwork demonstrating evidence of their studio practice (10 to 15 images)
  • Evidence of working knowledge of Photoshop, such as a classroom project or personal artwork demonstrating the use of Photoshop
  • Evidence of writing skills, including at least one research paper demonstrating use of citations and bibliography

Application

The application deadline for Summer 2011 is February 1, 2011.

Post-Baccalaureate Art Certification Program:

Candidates who possess an undergraduate degree in the fine arts but do not have a degree in art education or teaching certification can enter Moore’s 3 semester Post-Baccalaureate (Post-Bac) Art Certification Program prior to entering the Master of Arts program.

Post-Baccalaureate candidates from Moore College who have successfully completed their first semester and are enrolled in the second semester are eligible to apply to the MA program in Art Education. Post-Bac Art Certification candidates who have been accepted to the program; and have completed all required coursework, except for student teaching, can enter the grad program and concurrently enroll as long as they complete student teaching in the fall term of the graduate program prior to the qualifying review.
