The Art Education Department at Moore College of Art & Design provides baccalaureate students an opportunity to teach in the state of Pennsylvania with a three year Teaching Intern certificate while they complete courses requires for Instruction Level I certification.
Post baccalaureate students interested in applying for the Teaching Intern Certification must be accepted into the post baccalaureate certification program.
After acceptance, post baccalaureates meet with the Chair of the Art Education Department to discuss their intent. Students are responsible for locating their own full time teaching position.
Application for the Teaching Intern Certification will be made after the applicant has:
A letter from the chair will be sent to the principal of the school considering the Teaching Intern Candidate stating that the post baccalaureate student is eligible for the Teaching Intern certificate when they have received a job offer.
Teaching Interns must continue with all other classes in the Art Education Department with the exception of ED326 Laboratory Experiences and Practicum that is waived from the department requirements.
Teaching Interns must register for ED501 Student Teaching and attend all seminars during the semester in which they will be student teaching. Moore Supervisors using the PDE 430 evaluation form will evaluate the Intern.
On completion of all courses and student teaching with a GPA of 3.0, Teaching Interns are recommended for Pennsylvania Instructional I certification.
