The College meets students’ medical needs on site with its Health Services, which are available from 9 am to 3 pm daily and is staffed by a nurse. Over-the-counter health supplies, such as Band-aids, ice packs and cold relief medication, can be found in the self-serve station.
For physicians’ services, the College partners with PennCare—Edward S. Cooper Practice of General Medicine in West Philadelphia. PennCare also provides routine medical screenings and some laboratory services. For counseling support, the Director of Counseling Services takes student appointments on site for 20 hours a week and can also refer students to outside therapists. Any charges incurred in outside counseling are the responsibility of the student.
With a valid student ID card, students can enjoy free membership at two nearby locations of the Philadelphia Sports Club, both of which are within walking distance of the College and are also included on the College’s shuttle routes.
At the Philadelphia Sports Club students can clear their heads with some cardiovascular work, de-stress with some free weights or a massage, or enjoy group exercise classes including yoga, cycling, boxing, step aerobics and total body conditioning.
Additionally, Fairmount Park and its more than 9,000 acres of open space, hiking trails and scenic beauty is also within walking distance of the College.
